Visiting Professor for Students of S2 & S3 Physical Education Study Programme FIKK UNY

On Monday, 29 April 2024, the Master and Doctoral Study Program of Physical Education at the Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences (FIKK), Yogyakarta State University (UNY) held a Visiting Professor activity for Master and Doctoral students of Physical Education. This activity was attended by 100 students and presented an international speaker, Prof. Francis Ries, Ph.D, from the Faculty of Educational Science, University of Seville, Spain.
Prof Francis Ries, who is known as an expert in the field of physical education and health, gave a presentation with the theme ‘What works? Evidence-based guidance regarding physical activity and mental health in adolescents.’ In his presentation, Prof Ries explained the importance of physical activity in maintaining adolescents' mental health based on the latest research. He also provided practical evidence-based guidance on how purposeful physical activity can help improve mental wellbeing among adolescents.
The event, which took place in the Main Conference Room, 3rd Floor GPLA FIKK, not only provided new scientific insights for the students, but also opened a space for in-depth discussions on the role of physical activity in mental health in various educational contexts.
The Dean of FIKK UNY expressed his appreciation for the presence of Prof Ries and the active participation of the students. ‘We hope that through this activity, students can broaden their international horizons and understand more deeply how physical education can contribute significantly to maintaining the mental health of the younger generation,’ he said.
With this event, FIKK UNY further strengthens its commitment in developing quality physical education with an approach based on the latest scientific research, as well as expanding academic networks with international universities.
